| The Butler Group Technology Audit
was based on a lengthy interview with a number of the directors of Metron combined with expert analysis of athene® version 8. |
| |
Butler Group stated that “athene® can provide significant value to IT managers in being an assurance of adequate service level support and validating investment plans”. The ability of athene® to allow business context date to be incorporated into the reporting and thus allow IT managers to communicate with users more readily was highlighted by Butler Group in what they regarded as an overall “strong set of product features”. |
| |
They continued: “athene® very effectively combats uncertainty about infrastructure behaviour and capacity – both significant headaches for IT managers. Its reporting, analysis and prediction capabilities can be applied across complex, heterogeneous infrastructures, and it includes many helpful and business-friendly features that add significant value”. |
| |
| Butler Group was particularly impressed to see infrastructure virtualization strongly supported, and included within athene®’s predictive capacity modelling: “The ability of athene® to provide performance and capacity insight into virtualized environments is a particular strength that would be valuable for organizations considering, or already undertaking, adoption of virtualization technology. In Butler Group’s opinion, many organizations neglect to plan carefully enough the management of virtualized environments and fail to consider that tackling this issue in the long term will negate some of the initial benefits realized from virtualization. athene®’s approach of including similar reporting for virtualized environments as for those without virtualization provides a ‘level playing field’ in which problems or opportunities arising from either alternative can be considered fairly at the planning stage.” |
