Athene predicts service levels and resource demands by importing data from the Performance Database to proven analytical models. Athene makes it easy to answer "what-if" questions about the effects of changes in workload volumes, new applications and system management strategies for single machines and for Client-Server systems.

Although device utilizations vary linearly with changes in the workload, response times do not due to the effects of contention for system resources. Performance can only be predicted accurately by using advanced mathematical modeling techniques such as those developed and proved by Metron. Models are generated from the data held in the Performance Database. A scenario facility enables you to define the way in which configurations and workloads will change.
