Metron has included SNMP based alerting within its Athene application. This facility gives organizations with disparate UNIX, Linux and Windows systems the opportunity to reduce costs by using a single interface for all system management activities. Athene also provides this single interface with a more sophisticated level of performance data.

Athene integrates performance information with other system management tasks by sharing performance alerts using industry standard SNMP links. SNMP compliant management consoles then read and view these alerts from the SNMP trap. All the main system management framework products can now display performance alerts generated by the many operating system metrics monitored by Athene.

The package allows system managers to monitor a wide range of performance data from UNIX, Linux and Windows systems and alert thresholds are user-definable to ensure they are tailored to the precise requirements of each customer. Captured data is used by Athene for a wide range of Capacity Planning and Performance Management tasks including analysis, trending, planning, forecasting and the automatic generation of regular performance reports
