Metron’s Support Policy for Virtualized Platforms
VMware TAP Support Statement:
Metron confirms that we will support customers running Athene Acquire on supported Operating Systems in a VMware virtual machine environment. It should be noted that in order produce a true physical measure of the resource usage of an operating system that is running within a VMware virtual machine, the Athene Acquire must capture the performance data from the VMware Virtual Center.
Metron will provide unqualified support for Athene running in a VMware virtual environment in an identical manner as with Athene running on any other major x86 based systems without initially requiring reproduction of issues on native hardware. Should Metron suspect that the virtualization layer is the root cause of an incident; the customer will be required to contact the appropriate VMware support provider to resolve the VMware issue.
In general, only the current GA version of VMware and the prior major version of VMware are supported. Metron release documentation will specify the appropriate VMware product release levels supported. If in doubt the customer should liaise with Metron’s ActionLine for advice and support.
