Athene,
the world's first modeling system for Windows
performance prediction, is the flagship
product for Metron. Athene has been continuously
enhanced and extended such that it targets
more platforms than any other performance
management software.
Athene for Microsoft
Windows provides an administrator of a
Windows server network the same performance
management capabilities as those available
to administrators of UNIX and Linux systems.
This means that there is now an accurate
method of sizing Windows servers using the
Athene predictive planning application.
Athene's analysis features provide a means
of identifying why systems are not performing
as they should be.
Many servers are now equipped with Hyperthreading (HTT) or Symmetrical Multithreading (SMT) capability, which enables single CPU cores to be viewed by the operating system - and hence all the running applications - is if they are multiple physical CPUs. In some circumstances, this technology can yield processing efficiency improvements and higher throughput from the available real CPU resources. In an HTT or SMT environment, the operating system will typically report much lower processor utilization than is actually the case. Athene will tell you not only what the operating system is reporting (the "logical" usage), but also the underlying resource consumption of the physical processor cores. This is important, because it gives the System Administrator a clear insight into the way the real resources of the server are being used."
All of the Athene applications listed on
these WEB pages are available for Windows.
Therefore the integration of UNIX, Linux
and Windows server information is seamless
through just one product. |
