Make sure that each of your 'production' instances are mapped to their own Performance Group. The advantage of this is that it provides resource allocation control at the Oracle instance level from z/OS. This is important if, as happens frequently, the characteristics of a given instance change - for example, moving from primarily testing to production use. A secondary benefit is that this approach will make it much easier to determine an instance's resource consumption from RMF/SMF and other measurement systems that use the performance group as their main reporting classification.

Further information on Oracle running under z/OS is available from the Technical papers section
