Make sure that each of your
'production' instances are mapped to their
own Performance Group. The advantage of
this is that it provides resource allocation
control at the Oracle instance level from
z/OS. This is important if, as happens
frequently, the characteristics of a given
instance change - for example, moving from
primarily testing to production use. A secondary
benefit is that this approach will make
it much easier to determine an instance's
resource consumption from RMF/SMF and other
measurement systems that use the performance
group as their main reporting classification.
