Windows NT's basic server capabilities are implemented in a network service called Server. Its configuration (which can be changed in Control Panel | Network | Services | Server | Properties) has a substantial effect on Windows NT Server's performance. If a server is used primarily for file and print sharing select 'Maximize Throughput for File Sharing'. If a server is used for applications such as IIS, SQL Server or Oracle then select 'Maximize Throughput for Network Applications'.
