| FRAMEWORKS - IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM), HP OpenView (HPOV), CA Unicenter NSM
Many organizations have invested heavily in a framework solution. Historically, frameworks have been used for many purposes, most often for real-time alerting, fault notification, and event notification. Most framework products include agents that capture performance data – similar data to that captured by Athene’s Acquires.
Organizations that have invested in frameworks and their agents may not wish to take the time or effort to deploy another agent (an athene® Acquire) to their infrastructure. Therefore, we developed interfaces to 3 major framework products so that the capacity managers and operations teams can leverage the existing investment:
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) – Data is extracted directly from the Tivoli Data Warehouse (TDW) for the appropriate systems and time periods and written to the athene® database for use with any of the athene® reporting, analysis, and planning applications.
- HP OpenView (HPOV) – Data from HP-UX and AIX target types can be captured by OpenView (OVPA) agents and retrieved by Athene, then written to the athene® database for use with any of the athene® reporting, analysis, and planning applications.
- CA Unicenter NSM – Data is captured from targets running a variety of operating systems such as Windows, Unix, and Linux by a CA historical performance agent (HPA). Captured data is concentrated for storage and extracted using standard Unicenter NSM utilities. athene® automatically pulls that data from that store and writes it to the central athene® database for use with any of the athene® reporting, analysis, and planning applications.
