This Capacity Planning training course will take place over two days. Statistical Analysis, Queuing Theory and the majority of the Modeling material will be presented on day one. The remainder of the Modeling material, and Advanced Capacity Planning, will be presented on day two.
Following the Advanced Capacity Planning tutorial, you will be asked to work as a team, to analyse a set of real performance data and create models to address a specific set of requirements. You will also be asked to produce a short presentation on your findings.
Topics covered in the course incude:
Introduction to Queuing Theory
Elementary Queuing Theory Little’s Law
Advanced Capacity Planning
Advanced I/O modeling techniques Advanced techniques with Workload Components Other functions
Statistical Analysis
Trending Simple Regression Analysis
Modeling
Introduction to Capacity Planning and Modeling Choosing a Modeling Period Building a Baseline Model Calibration and Viewing Results Modification Analysis (What-If Modeling) Service Level Targets and Performance Bottlenecks
The theory and functions covered are generally applicable to Capacity Planning activities as described in the ITIL® Capacity Management guidelines. Practical exercises are based on the Capacity Planning elements within Metron’s Athene Capacity Management software.
